A video is viral in social media platforms. A woman walking alone in a deserted area is stopped by two bikers. The intention of these bikers is to rob her. But the woman is smarter. She throws away her bag. The robbers plunge at her bag and the lady flees away with their costly bike. The bag is Nandigram and the lady is Mamta Banerjee. This meme has deep meanings - it explains  the whole scenario of Bengal.

Although,  Mamta may not have succeeded in snatching Nandigram from the clutches of Adhikari brothers, she managed to engage the BJP and Subhendu Adhikari in Nandigram and win over rest of the state. The BJP was handed a resounding defeat by Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal State Assembly Elections 2021. Now BJP heavyweights may consider Nandigram as a lollipop , pat their back,  and enjoy the lollipop just like a kid sitting in the corner of a  park,  waiting for it to finish.

From social media to personal chat groups,  two pioneers of Indian politics are being ridiculed for ignoring the pandemic.  There were around 50 rallies of prime minister and home minister in Bengal. This included about 20 rallies of prime minister, more than 50 programmes of home minister in a total of about 1500 programmes across the state. Some of these rallies and programmes were cancelled due to pandemic in the later phase.

Meanwhile , the home minister was busy dining at the homes of dalit voters- a card played often by various parties. Compared to the efforts made by home minister the seats won is negligible. He was seen asking for the votes in the streets of Bengal as if it was an election of local bodies. One can imagine the importance of Bengal for BJP . The party president J P Nadda and the general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya encamped temporarily in Bengal. The most aggressive face of 'hindutva' Yogi Adityanath was packed , bundled and kicked back to Utter Pradesh. The BJP went to town asking for votes on the shoulders of ‘cut-money, tolabaazi’. In constituency after constituency, the Home Minister spoke about Didi's regime. Their speeches had nothing new. Their promises sounded hollow. The lower-middle-class man who spent Rs 92/litre on petrol to take his bike to the Home Minister's rally and braved the April sun, came back home disappointed. There was no word about his plight. All he heard was the promise of statues and cries of Jai Shri Ram spoken in a tongue that's not his own.

The focus of BJP IT cell , Amit Malviya and his companions was only on Bengal. Huge amounts were spent in the social media campaigns to hire the social media teams to spread  the hatred among the communities. On the other hand Prashant Kishore, who was leading the TMC's campaign rose beyond expectations. He managed to blow the air off the electoral tactics of Amit Shah ,

The media must stop predicting Amit Shah as Chanakya of Indian politics. They must agree that the elections cannot be won only on the basis of PR . Although, the elections has been won by TMC , the response of social media shows that the entire nation has celebrated the BJP's defeat. Even the agitating farmers at Delhi borders were seen celebrating and distributing the sweets .

The chief ministers of various states and cabinet ministers held rallies and participated in various programmes in Bengal,  but in vain. The bengali voters denied the brand and preferred self respect. BJP tried its level best to polarize the voters on the religious grounds but couldn't succeed.  The election commission's formulae to hold Bengal elections in eight phases may have helped BJP a little but it has gambled the commission's credibility.

Mamta Banerjee's retaliation to BJP's aggressive and communal campaign is quite interesting. PM and home minister had started their campaign predicting 200 plus seats for BJP. TMC played safe and their 'khela' will be remembered for a long time in Indian politics. Amit Shah will find it difficult to wipe off the horrific memories of this election. Modi might have the sleepless night on 2nd May at his residence, 7 Racecourse.

Prime minister tried his level best to please the 'Matua' voters,  on tour to Bangladesh, but with no results. BJP hoped that 'Indian secular front' would break into the minority votes in "Furfura Sharif" but it failed in doing so. Even Asaduddin Owasi's AIMIM failed to serve its purpose. Mamta managed to win the seats in BJP stronghold areas like Jungle Mahal.

Popular schemes like "Kanyashree" and "Roopshree" held firmly, the women's support for Mamta. The prime minister mocking Mamta with his infamous dialogue - " Didi o didi " spilled the beans for BJP . The villainous tone agitated the women voters,  resulting in BJP's downfall. The severity of this negative campaign was to the extent that the vote share of the Congress and the  left shifted to TMC .

The media's modern Chanakya was exposed and the results dented the 'super human' image of Modi. The BJP supporters in the state were shocked and their confidence vanished. The magical superhuman image of Modi was tarnished and brought down to  dust.

Though the BJP's  seats in 2021 has increased dramatically, but it can also be seen as the victory of old TMC faces . The tribal areas which were supposed to be the strongholds of BJP rejected the  claims. The miraculous performance of BJP in parliamentary elections just faded away.

Since 2014 BJP had been trying  hard to  strengthen itself at the grassroot level. General secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and his entire team left no stone unturned to spread the message that the hindus in the state were under threat. They tried their level best to convince the voters that TMC's win would strengthen the Muslims in the state. TMC's victory in Bengal is a major dent on communal politics. This election alone has solved many unsolved mysteries - how to counter the politics of hate.

Meanwhile the party's misdeeds in the  era of pandemic has led India to the disaster. The drastic increase in the Corona related deaths and the deteriorating conditions of graveyards and crematoriums is heartbreaking. The home minister's comment that there were no elections in Delhi and Mumbai reflects his ignorance. This is the peak of his insensitivity. The BJP's spokespersons are arguing that their seats in the state has increased but the reality is that the results are a tight slap at the face of those who tried hard to divide Bengal on the communal basis.

The cartoon of Satish Acharya comes to my mind - gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore is giving a razor to Modi asking him to peel off the 'mask'. The BJP cadre is stunned. The mood of secular India can be sensed in the social media. It has the silver lining in the dark cloud.
