Earlier Surendra Pradhan was the part of Border Security Forces and now he has devoted himself to the himalayas. His eyesight is amazing, especially when he is capturing landscapes with his lens. He lives in Darjeeling and Studied Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph's College, Darjeeling.

Lungthung, also known as Dhupidhara is a peaceable townlet with a fascinating viewpoint on the eastern part of Sikkim. Perched on the lap of the Himalayan ranges at the height of 12,500 ft. this serene state is a must-visit place for the entire Old Silk Route region. The exotic view of the Mt. Kanchenjungha on one side and the meandering roads of Zuluk on the other have bordered this place around. Thambi View Point which offers a great bird’s eye view of Mt. Kanchenjungha and the whole of Eastern Himalayas is within a kilometre of Lunthung-Dhupidara village.

It also falls under Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary with different species of flora and fauna. It is, therefore, a paradise for the wildlife enthusiast. It is a house for beautiful Himalayan Monal, the Khaleej pheasant, blood pheasant and famous Red Panda.

From January to April the whole of Lungthung–Dhupidara is virtually buried in snow and the only colour that reflects is white. The rainy season here is the season for flowers to bloom, with several species of colourful flowers all over the place. When the wild flowers bloom from July to September, the mountain slopes and valleys are completely saturated in varied colours around this region which emanate in a colourful picturesque landscape. During May and June and some of July Lungthung receives rainfall and remains foggy. The short-term summer is quite pleasant to visit the place with the warm climate. Autumn again is the time for little cold but sparkling clean weather with the magnificent spectacle of the snow-capped mountains at the backdrop of the clear blue skies remains intact.

Lungthung is a magical place and one can witness the landscapes changing every time with the change of season, everytime it is like a first-hand experience to visit the place at different time of the year. Lungthung viewpoint is famous for the breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayan range on one side and the spectacular view of the sunrise on other. The magistic view, encompassing the first golden rays of the sun kissing the magnificent peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga causing its colour to change dramatically, becomes the enthralling sight to cherish upon throughout the lifetime.

The best possible way for accommodation in Lungthung–Dhupidara is homestays. These home-stays are very clean, hygeinic and well equipped with all basic comforts like cosy beddings, comfortable rooms with attached western bathrooms, heaters to keep the rooms warm. They also serve hot food among all the other basic needs. Plus these beautiful wooden cottages offers heavenly scenes of the great Himalayas and its marvellous snowy peaks which blow one's mind instantly.

The place is however restricted because of its proximity to the Chinese border, there are several military establishments and photography is prohibited in some of the areas. It requires a proper permit to visit Lungthung View point.
